Timothy F. LaHaye is an American evangelical Christian minister, author, and speaker. He is best-known for the Left Behind series of apocalyptic fiction, which he co-wrote with Jerry B. Jenkins. He has written over 50 books, both fiction and non-fiction.
LaHaye received a B.A. from Bob Jones University in 1950. He also holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Western Seminary. In 1958, the LaHaye family moved to San Diego, California, where he became pastor of the Scott Memorial Baptist Church (since renamed Shadow Mountain Community Church) in El Cajon, serving there for almost 25 years. In 1971 he founded Christian Heritage College, which is now known as San Diego Christian College.
LaHaye is best-known for the Left Behind series of apocalyptic fiction that depict the Earth after the pretribulation rapture which LaHaye believes will occur. The books were LaHaye's brainchild, though Jerry B. Jenkins, a former sportswriter with numerous other works of fiction to his name, did the actual writing of the books from LaHaye's notes. LaHaye has said, "I write the best I can. I know I'm never going to be revered as some classic writer. I don't claim to be C. S. Lewis. The literary-type writers, I admire them. I wish I was smart enough to write a book that's hard to read, you know?"
Time magazine named LaHaye one of the 25 most influential evangelicals in America and in the summer of 2001 the Evangelical Studies Bulletin named him the most influential Christian leader of the preceding quarter century.
It's the lie of evolution that all man are just evolved and that they're all equal, and that all creatures are equal. Topics: Atheism, Evolution | There are the saints who were raptured at the beginning of the tribulation period - those are the Christians. Topics: Christians | To suggest that the merciful, longsuffering, gracious and loving God of the Bible would invent a dreadful doctrine like Calvinism, which would have us believe it is an act of 'grace' to select only certain people for heaven and, by exclusion, others for hell, comes perilously close to blasphemy. Topics: Grace, Heresy, The Bible | The unsaved people will be cast into utter darkness forever. Topics: Hell | If Jesus is the Son of God in human flesh, He's one of a kind of the 13 billions of people who have ever lived. Topics: Jesus | But the Jews will also be believers, so you can say that all the saints, both gentiles and Jews, will go into the millennial kingdom and populate the earth. Topics: Prophecy, Salvation |
| One of the comments that we've heard that has really blessed us is people have been driven back to the book of Revelation to prove us wrong only to find that what we said was there. Topics: Prophecy, Truth | People recognize something's going to happen, and they'd better get ready. Topics: Prophecy | The book of Revelation says that we no longer need the sun or the moon, for Christ is the light of the world. Topics: Prophecy, Christ | The tribulation period is seven years, and when the signing of the covenant occurs, people who know the Bible and take it literally will know that, seven years later, Christ is going to come in His power and glory. Topics: Prophecy, Christ, The Bible | You have to take Bible prophecy literally, just like everything else in the Bible. Topics: Prophecy, The Bible | But when you take the Bible literally, for what it says, you have to come back to the fact that there is only one way of salvation; there's only one Savior.
